The sky darkened and the predicted rain began to fall about an hour before showtime on last night's free Stevie Wonder concert venue downtown. About half the spectators had umbrellas while the other half took advantage of the overlap. This was the first big show of the 30th annual Montreal Jazz Festival.
Claustrophobia, poor visibility (those eye-threatening umbrellas) and a lack of rain gear had me backing out of the throng before showtime and listening from a distance. The Montreal Gazette's report is here.
